Three Must-Watch Evening Shows in Koh Samui

Offering unique and thrilling evening shows aside from the usual night scene in Koh Samui, these wildly popular shows are nightly entertainment for people of all ages. While drinking and dancing in nightclubs are part of the exciting nightlife in Koh Samui, these three shows offer a friendlier and cultural experience for the whole family.

Here are three of Koh Samui’s must-watch evening shows:

1. CoCo Tam’s Fireshow

This show is not your ordinary fire dancing on the beach – it’s a spectacular fire show performed by the professional fire dancers of Fire Starz Samui. Hosted by the beachfront bar and resto CoCo Tam’s, it is a nightly performance of fire dancers on Bophut Beach, where a talented team of fire dancers executes twists and twirls of flaming staffs, hula hoops, and poi.

Accompanied by lively and dramatic music that excites the performances, talented fire dancers exhibit exceptional skill and offer a stunning visual treat for all spectators.

There are two shows each night, at 7:15 pm and 9 pm, so if you wish to witness this exciting show, reserve a table or visit the restaurant early to secure a table.

2. Starz Cabaret-Samui

For anyone who loves glitz and glamor, the Starz Cabaret-Samui is the evening show for you. Held at a compact small theater along Chaweng Beach Road, witness as drag queens don elaborate costumes and makeup and lip sync to the world’s most iconic pop songs.

Both traditional Thai and international music are performed in the show, which lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour. Entrance is free, but you’d need to reserve a table to watch the show. Drink purchases are required when you reserve a table and only groups of at least eight will be accepted for reservations.

The cabaret show is light-hearted and wholesome, with interactive comedic sets, perfect for audiences of all ages.  It is one of the most popular evening shows on the island; expect to experience musical varieties, comedic elements, grand costumes, amusing impersonations of pop icons, and traditional Thai dancers.

There are two shows held every night, which are at 830pm and 10 pm.

3. Muay Thai Boxing

Experience the excitement of Thailand’s national sport with your very eyes. Muay Thai Boxing fights at the Chaweng Stadium offer cultural immersions where spectators witness actual Muay Thai competitions by amateur and professional boxers.

The Chaweng Stadium was established in 1996 by Khun Kensen Poonsawat and was specifically built to offer Muay Thai boxing competitions for tourists to witness. The Stadium is the biggest on the island and regularly hosts challenges with local and international competitors.

Pre-fight traditions are also performed, which include a warm-up dance called Wai Khru. The fighters perform a traditional pre-fight dance to honor their trainers and the sport. It is accompanied by traditional Thai music and is a unique way of learning about the local sport and culture.

Fights occur every Tuesday and Friday in Koh Samui, starting at 9 pm. There are about six fights held at Chaweng Stadium each week, offering tourists actual fights rather than a mere show.

People of all ages are welcome to watch the fights, but it must be noted that they are actual competitions where fighters use their knees, shins, elbows, and fists to hit their opponents. Fights are violent and can be brutal, so families with kids should know what to expect.

There are different prices for watching, ranging from 1,500 Baht for a stadium seat to 3000 Baht for a VIP Premium seat. Children below the age of 5 are free to enter, while kids ages 6 to 10 are half-price.
